satis&fy AG and partner companies are steering a united course towards sustainability in the event industry
satis&fy AG and its partner companies are steering a unified course towards sustainability in the event industry. With the addition of spaces mgt GmbH in August, all subsidiaries of the Live Matters Group are now certified in sustainability.
satis&fy, spaces and Habegger Austria have had their environmental management systems validated according to EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) and the first two have also been certified according to ISO 14001. EMAS is an environmental management system developed by the European Union that helps companies and organisations to continuously improve their environmental performance and goes beyond the criteria of ISO 14001. Within this framework, environmental performance is reviewed annually by state-certified auditors for continuous improvement and a comprehensive environmental statement is published. Since EMAS is an EU quality seal, Habegger Switzerland decided to pursue ‘EXPO Event ISO 20121 Sustainable Event Management’ certification and received the label in February.
With both EMAS and ISO certification, the Live Matters Group pursues a holistic approach that takes equal account of economic, ecological and social aspects. This includes measurable targets in relation to work structures and environmental impact, as well as regular reviews to ensure that these targets are being met. With successful certification and audits in the 2024 financial year, the Live Matters Group is sending a clear signal to the industry.
“The event industry is not only fast-paced, but also characterised by high material and logistics costs. This makes the steps we are taking all the more important – for our environment, our employees and, last but not least, for our customers. At Live Matters, we have chosen the gold standards among the certification labels and are proud to be taking a pioneering role and showing our customers ways to implement sustainable events,’ says Nico Ubenauf, CEO of satis&fy AG and Live Matters GmbH.
Ubenauf’s main piece of advice for customers who want to make their event sustainable is: ‘Plan early. This guarantees a smooth and resource-efficient process. Materials can be reserved locally, and supply chains can be optimised and shortened.’
Under the name ‘Show Green’, satis&fy has already included the product ‘sustainable event’ in its portfolio. What this looks like in practice, of course, remains individual and depends on the type of event and the customer’s wishes. Workshops on sustainable event management can also be booked on request directly from the satis&fy experts.
Further measures have also been implemented within the group to reduce CO2 emissions in the long term. This includes the operation of a photovoltaic system, the replacement of conventional lamps with LED lighting with motion sensors in all warehouses and offices, and increasing greening at all company locations. In addition, the technology is permanently installed in partner locations. And if something is left over after a production, waste separation takes place into over 20 fractions to ensure that the process is as economical and resource-efficient as possible.
