PRESENTED BY BOEING
A brilliant Closing Ceremony with powerful speeches by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the patron of the Invictus Games Foundation Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, plus appearances by Rita Ora and Sam Ryder, brought the sixth Invictus Games to a close. This was preceded by a week of sports where 21 nations competed against each other in 208 competitions. In addition to the medals, the main focus in Düsseldorf was on camaraderie, team spirit and, of course, respect.
It was satis&fy’s responsibility to translate the unique atmosphere into a reverberating event with technical and logistical acuity. A special challenge, not only because of the size, but also because of the immense importance and international recognition of this sporting event.
“The collaboration with satis&fy worked wonderfully every step of the way. Also because employees were always prepared to go the extra mile. At an event with such a complex structure, this commitment is infinitely valuable and almost irreplaceable,” says Fabian Müller, Executive Director of D.PRODUCTION/D.LIVE, the municipal operating company of the MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA.
Thanks to the advanced infrastructure of this 360-degree service provider, prefad equipment modules and trackable trucks, a total of nine hours of setup were saved. An incalculable added value for events of this size. This made it possible to respond to last-minute customer requests at short notice.
In addition to equipping numerous competition areas, satis&fy was also responsible for the Ceremony stage. An LED header was specially designed and manufactured for the 300 square meter curved LED wall, the central design element of the stage. Thanks to this special construction, it was possible to dispense with trusses above the LED wall and make the stage design more minimal. Perfect acoustic performance from the stadium sound system was guaranteed by loudspeaker systems from the French manufacturer L’Acoustics. Three RoboSpot systems from the manufacturer Robe put the actors on the multifunctional stage in the right light, including the presenters Hadnet Tesfai and Steven Gätjen, along with the political guests, various star acts and, of course, the national competitors themselves.
During the week of sports, focus was placed on the technical trappings of the wheelchair basketball court, the archery range, ping-pong, weightlifting and track & field. This included professional lighting for live audiences as well as streaming and television broadcasts.
The year 2024 is already beckoning: satis&fy is well prepared for the sporting events of the coming year.
