The theme ‘amazing night’ drew attention to many celebrities just like every year. Besides the Irish rock star and patron of the ball Sir Bob Geldorf many other national and international guests honoured the 26th ball with their appearance such as ex Dallas actor Audrey Landers, the Austrian director Peter Weck, opera star Nadja Michael, singer Udo Jürgens and actor Alexandra Kamps.
Something new surprised the guests right at the entry. The renaissance facade was not just dramatically lit but also projected on with a video trailer.
Besides the lighting, audio and audiovisual execution s&f for the first time also was awarded with the decoration and stage design of the opera ball. Flown from the ceiling of the ballroom was an oversize blossom. This 50’ wide masterpiece was constructed and built in 14 days in the shops of the specialists from Karben and contained 16 petals most of which were motion controlled.
The stage backdrop contained a huge antique like picture frame the live images of the night were projected into. This set was designed in collaboration with the stage designer Jens Hübner. A 30’ long curtain of LED-50-chains, a custom product of s&f, created a special lighting atmosphere. Up until early in the morning the guests and celebrities partied on at the after show party at the Westin Grand hotel. Needless to say that this was as well equipped by our production specialists.
Starting two days prior about 60 specialists worked hand in hand in the ballroom, its foyers and other spots around the opera house to install the technical equipment as well as dress up all areas. ‘We are very happy after three years to be part of this Opera ball again’, says Nico Ubenauf, founder and CEO of the event production company. ‘The brief for us was to combine traditional with modern values. With our technical and visual conception we reached this goal. We received very positive feedback so far’, he says.
