Sustainable Meetings Berlin

satis&fy is Sustainable Partner of visitBerlin

The Berlin branch was recognized  as a “High Performer” by visitBerlin’s Berlin Convention Office.

The online platform Sustainable Meetings Berlin has set itself the task of making it easier for customers to plan and implement sustainable meetings, conferences and events in and around Berlin. In mid-November 2020, the Berlin branch was awarded as a “High Performer” by independent auditors from visitBerlin’s Berlin Convention Office. satis&fy is the first company from the event technology and trade fair construction sector to be certified.

“We have really gone all out over the last few months to prepare for this audit and set the course for our sustainable future. It’s great to see that our efforts have been successful and that we have even been classified as a high performer,” says a delighted Patric Schmidt, who as Managing Director is responsible for the Berlin branch.

“The certification as a Sustainable Partner is not a snapshot, but a starting point to improve performance even further.”

Sustainability in our corporate guidelines

Schmidt says that satis&fy’s long history of sustainability management also played a major role on the path to certification. “The topic has been firmly anchored in our entire company since 2008. We have already made many adjustments to be able to offer our customers an ecologically correct and socially responsible service,” says the branch manager. The certification process helped to clearly document the procedures and processes and make them available to the auditors. The company’s own wiki also played an important role in the audit. There, for example, everything can be read about the legal obligations, the commitment and the measures in the environmental area as well as resource protection.

The company was supported in Berlin by Marcus Stadler, who assists satis&fy as an environmental management consultant. He says: “The certification as a Sustainable Partner is not a snapshot, but the starting signal to improve the performance even further.”

Because they don’t want to rest on their laurels, he says, but continue to work on sustainability performance “by embedding sustainability, in every service, right down to every single workplace, and integrating it as an integral part of the business routine.” The certification not only gives them the chance to actively shape the change towards more sustainability in Berlin’s event industry, but also the opportunity to participate in tenders in which sustainable procurement is a firmly anchored criterion.

Certification

The certification, which is based on a comprehensive catalogue of 62 individual criteria, then took place in three stages. Due to Corona, there was one on-site and two online appointments. On-site, topics such as waste organisation, energy supply, the handling of hazardous substances and compliance with fire protection requirements and occupational health and safety were scrutinised. During the online appointments, the auditors had to be provided with all evidence that satis&fy also transparently documents its activities and commitment – both publicly and internally.

“We are pleased to finally be able to present satis&fy as a partner for the event technology and trade fair construction sector on our platform. It is great that satis&fy has implemented the certification in what was not an easy time for all of us and then also immediately entered as a high performer,” says Luisa Mentz, Project Manager Conventions at visitBerlin.

“We are pleased to be able to finally present on our platform satis&fy as a partner for event technology and exhibition stand construction.
