In mid-November, the Berlin branch of satis&fy AG was recognized as a “High Performer” by independent auditors from visitBerlin’s Berlin Convention Office. With immediate effect, the company will be listed on the website as a “Sustainable Partner”. The online platform Sustainable Meetings Berlin allows customers to easily plan and implement sustainable meetings, conferences and events in and around Berlin. satis&fy is the first event technology and exhibition stand construction company to be certified.
“During the last few months, we have really put all our efforts into preparing for this audit and setting the course for our sustainable future. It is nice to see that our efforts have been successful and that we are rated as high performers,” says a delighted Patric Schmidt, who is the Managing Director of the Berlin branch. Schmidt states that satis&fy’s long history in matters of sustainability management played a key factor in the company’s path to certification. “Since 2008, this topic has been firmly implemented throughout our entire company. We have already made a lot of changes to be able to offer our customers an ecologically correct and socially responsible service,” said the branch manager. The certification process helped to properly document the procedures and methods and to make them available to the auditors. The company’s own wiki also played an important role in the audit. There you can, for example, read everything about legal obligations, commitment and measures in the environmental sector as well as resource protection.
Berlin’s branch was supported also by Marcus Stadler, who is satis&fy’s environmental management consultant. He says: “The certification as a Sustainable Partner is not a snapshot, but a starting point to improve performance even further.”
Because one does not want to rest purely on the results, but continue to work on sustainability performance, namely “by anchoring sustainability in every service down to every single workplace and adopting it as an integral part of the business routine.” The certification does not only mean the chance to actively shape advancement to more sustainability in Berlin’s event industry, but also the opportunity to participate in tenders in which sustainable procurement is a firmly embedded criterion.
The certification, which is based on a comprehensive catalogue of 62 individual criteria, took place in three stages. Due to Corona, there was one on-site and two online appointments. On site, topics such as waste organization, energy supply, handling of hazardous substances as well as compliance with fire protection regulations and occupational safety were carefully examined. During the online appointments, the auditors had to be provided with evidence substantiating that satis&fy also transparently documents its activities and commitment – both publicly and internally.
“We are pleased to be able to finally present on our platform satis&fy as a partner for event technology and exhibition stand construction. In this difficult time for all of us, it is great that satis&fy implemented the certification and then immediately started as a high performer”, says Luisa Mentz, Project Manager of Conventions at visitBerlin.
